2002 England home long sleeve
The England 2002 home shirt, designed by Umbro, marked the beginning of a new era with a much sleeker, more athletic look. It kept the classic white base, but introduced a bold design element: a thick red vertical stripe running down the left side of the shirt, balanced by a subtle navy trim on the collar and cuffs. The Three Lions crest was moved into the center of the chest, directly above the Umbro logo, which gave the shirt a very symmetrical and modern appearance.
This kit debuted at the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Japan and South Korea, where England reached the quarter-finals, famously beating Argentina in the group stage thanks to David Beckham’s penalty. Beckham, Michael Owen, and Rio Ferdinand are some of the standout players remembered in this shirt.
